Bio

Francis enlisted April 27, 1861, along with his brother, Eli. Francis' military life was short as he died Sept. 7, 1861. His rank is given as a Pvt. of Capt. McAldridge's Company, 15th Regiment of Mississippi Volunteers, of the Confederate States. During that time he was listed as "sick in camp" and "absent on furlough" so it is not known if he died in battle or not. His military file includes a document signed by his father, Fielding, attesting to the fact that he left neither a wife nor child. (Information provided by FAG contributor, Wilma Norton). The twin brothers share a broken stone and the death dates are unclear, but both were listed with their parents in the 1860 Calhoun County, MS census.
