She was an Austin poet of the 70s, 80s and 90s, helping found TexasCircuit, supporting poets and writers across Texas. Ms. Crockett's work was included in Mondo Elvis: A Collection of Fiction and Poetry about Elvis (St. Martin's Press, 1994 and many small collections like Austin Stone #2 (Limestone Press, 1976). Her memorable poetry collection '53 Ford (Wings Press, 1979) is a current collector's book. She also wrote numerous satirical plays which were presented in Austin. She enjoyed her last years in Denton, in happiness and peace, observing the beauty of this world on long walks. She was caring, kind, and generous with everyone around her. Eleanor (aka junior) left this life on November 9, 2023 at 3:36 pm, one day after her 77th birthday, November 8 (1946). Her cremains were sent to her brother in Alaska. She is survived by her brother, Robert Marion Crockett, Jr. of Alaska, his wife Amanda and daughter, Elizabeth. An aunt, Glenda Allen, lives in McKinney. She has cousins, Tom Crockett, of Houston, his sister Peggy Crockett and John R. Crockett of McKinney, Tx. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Earle Crockett, a former Miss Tyler and father Robert Marion Crockett, DVM, whose skills kept poultry agriculture safe. Eleanor grew up in Mt. Pleasant, attending East Texas Junior College then the University of Texas at Austin. In 1982, she obtained a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from St. Edward's University in Austin.
