Bio

James Erwin, 89 of Denton, Texas went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1934, in Denton, Texas to Lain and Bessie (Charles) Erwin. He joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He married LeNonia Starr in 1957 and was preceded in death by her in 1963. In 1964 he married Joyce Thompson. They were married forty-two years till her death in 2006. He is also preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charles, Imalain, Anna Gene, Mary, Bob, Reese, and Donnye. He was a member of Gateway United Baptist Church in Denton, TX. James started his law enforcement career with the Denton Police Department, and later went to work for the Denton County Sheriff's Department. He was then elected to Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 in Denton County where he served for sixteen years. After his retirement he worked for Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home till 2016.
