Bio

George F. Babek, age 97 of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully February 16, 2024 in Mansfield, Texas after battling with the disabilities of his stroke from June last year. He gave it his all in rehab. He was born January 18, 1927, In Ennis Texas to Frank Anton and Francis Mary (Miklis) Babek. As a youngster he was raised in Telico, Texas. His family moved to Ennis along with his dad's business; Babek Blacksmiths Shop. He graduated from Ennis High School, then worked for A. Gunthard Co in Ennis. His next venture was joining the Navy during World War II. He was true to his service and patriotic. George married sweetheart, Ella Toni Zabojnik, on August 27, 1949, at the KJT in Ennis and shared 70 years together. He worked at Ling Temco Vought until he retired at age 58. In his retirement years he worked for his sons; David and Danny, helping them in their businesses as "Jack of all Trades" helper. He worked hard and always had some type of job. He was conservative and frugal. He loved his family and was always anxious to help. Even at his age, he had his quick wit. He was known to like telling stories from the past (several times)! He and Ella would be at the lake, fishing at any available moment they could find. They both shared their love for all Czech music, never missing a Polka program on Sundays. During his time in Isle of Watercrest, he made sure Danny Z and Polka show was cranked up and ready to go every Sunday. He was a member of the societies; KJT, SPJST and Knights of Columbus. George and Ella were members of St, Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ella who passed on April 9, 2020, his parents, one grandson; Jared Mckiddy, sisters; Lillian Toth, Frances Martin, and his Zabojnik in-laws. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00 am at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral home in Ennis Texas. A service will be held after, at Boze Mitchell McKibbin funeral Home Chapel, followed by an interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
