Robert Stripling and his father-in-law John Averett are listed in the Georgia Tax Index, 1789-1799. Year 1794, Residence Place Hancock, Georgia, USA, District WORTHEN, Page 10. Robert Stripling lived in Hancock County, Georgia when he married Mary E Averett about 1797, and they began their family there. Children of Robert and Mary: 1 Moses 1798-1860 2 William 1799-1872 3 Charles 1803-unknown 4 Elizabeth 1805-1846 5 David 1806-1882 6 James 1808-1867 7 Tabitha 1810-1879 8 Robert Jr 1815-unknown After the death of his father-in-law in 1811 and his own death around 1814 , his widow Mary relocated with their children to Jones County, Georgia. The 1816 Georgia Property Tax Digests for Jones County lists her beside her nephew-in-law, Arthur Stripling. In 1820, she was living next to Robert's brother, Moses Stripling.
