Karval Clibon March 8, 1929 — February 22, 2024 Karval Gene Clibon, 94, a resident of Valencia County, NM was born March 8, 1929 to Tony R. and Ruby J. Clibon in Elbert County, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Clibon; sisters, Delores Marshbanks and Darlene Salsbury; wife, Helen Clibon; and special friend, Betty Cobel. He is survived by his sons, Randy Clibon (Debra), Jeffery Clibon (Linda), Brent Clibon (Linda), and Tony Clibon (Deanna); daughter, Danielle Stevens; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Melva Clibon; and special friends, Dian Christensen and Dan and Ruth Filipek. Karval, known to all by Gene, joined the Navy at age 18 and served 4 years. He then started his long career as a driller, first in exploration and ending in owning a water well company. At age 77 Gene retired and enjoyed playing pool, traveling, and spending time with family and his friends. He was a member of El Cerro Mission Baptist Church. Gene will be remembered by all for wearing a white Cowboy hat, Levi jeans and boots. At age 90 Gene asked for a black Cowboy hat and wore that for his remaining years. He will be missed. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, 2:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
