Bio
Parents: Vernie and Evelene Wingate He graduated from Pitkin High School where he was known as the winner of the local rock and roll dance contest. John went on to graduate from Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he met Barbara, the love of his life. John and Barbara celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in December 2023. John and Barbara have three children and many career adventures, eventually settling in Evergreen in 1991. John owned a construction company, where he was a problem solver and employer of many. John enjoyed Ducks Unlimited, and the Rotary Club of Evergreen, as he served in many leadership roles in both organizations. John was a man of strong faith, and active in Church all his life. John will be remembered as a man who loved God, and his family and friends deeply. He had a quick sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was always willing to be a helpful contributor in serving the needs of many. He is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren, his sister, his brother, and a sister in law. A celebration of life and reception to follow will be held on February 24th, 2024, at 11:00am (doors will open at 10:30am) at Ascent Church, 29823 Troutdale Scenic Drive, Evergreen CO 80439. A gravesite service will be held immediately to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Rd., Evergreen, CO, 80439.
