SEDLACEK, JOHN J., age 80, Feb 26. 2005, born near Seward NE, in 1925. Married Vivian in 1942 and enrolled at the Univ. of Nebraska, graduated in 1950. One of his great passions was football and he played both offense and defense in college for 4 years; named All Big 8 in 1946; in 1998 inducted into the Neb. Football Hall of Fame along with coach Tom Osbourne. From NE, the family moved to Valley Forge in 1959 when John went to work with ITE Circuit Breaker Co. In 1976, John went with GE Sylvania and managed both US and global divisions. Private investors and John arranged for the purchase of the electrical equipment division of which he became President and CEO of the newly formed Challenger Electrical Equipment Corp. After Challenger was purchased by Westing-house in 1998, John retired in 1991. His volunteer work included 10 years as President of Board of Phoenixville Hospital and Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Phoenixville. His retirement included several trips with family, winters in Tucson, many football outings, dinner with friends and many happy summers in Avalon NJ. John is survived by his wife, Vivian; children, Keith, Jarry and wife Jan, Mona and husband Bill; daughter-in-law, Terri; 12 beloved grandchildren and 6 great grand-children. He was predeceased by son, Tom, in 2000. John's request is that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, 145 Main St., Phoenixville PA 19490. Visitation for family and friends will be in the Church Friday, March 4th, 6:30 to 9 P.M. Services will be held on Saturday, March 5th, at 10:30 A.M.
