Roy Fredrick Batty, age 89, passed away at his residence on May 11, 2007 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born on August 11, 1917 to Matthew and Olive Hamond Batty in Leeds, Utah. He spent his early years in Toquerville and Kanarraville. He attended local schools in Toquerville and Cedar City. Roy married Shirley Warren in 1940 in Beaver, Utah. He came to Cedar City after graduating high school to work for Premium Oil Company and Motel until he went into the Army in 1943 and served in the Medical Corp for three years during World War II. After the war, he attended BAC (now SUU) to become a mechanic. He worked for Thorley Ford and Parkway Ford for 35 years. Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1556. Roy is survived by his wife, Shirley. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Lena Johnson, Florence, Rebecca Ann Fox, Olive May, and Ella Reeves, and brothers Ray, Lester, Wallace, Willard, Ben and Clair Batty. Funeral services will be Monday, May 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City, Utah at 190 North 300 West. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery
