Delbert Gene Jungling, 86 of Grundy Center, Iowa, gained his wings and departed earth on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Arlington Place Memory Care where he had lived since November, 2023. Delbert selflessly donated his body to the University of Iowa Medical College so that others may learn. Memorials may be directed to Grundy Center Emergency Services, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, or the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Delbert was born on February 19, 1937, in Aplington, Iowa, the son of Albert and Mina (Karsjens) Jungling. Delbert attended Pleasant Valley #7, and Dike High School followed by two years at Central College in Pella, Iowa. On December 27, 1957, he married Delores "Dee" Hoogestraat at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland. Together the couple raised four children Elaine, Bruce, Mark, and Steve. Del's lifetime career included 41 years in Animal Breeding Services, technician, trainer, District Sales Manager, achieving several sales awards across the country including #1 in the nation 1971. He was active in community service including Cub Scouts, and 30 years on the Grundy Center Fire Department and Ambulance. Del was co-owner of Grundy Ambulance Service for several years. Active member of the First Presbyterian Church then later the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck and the Interfaith Men's Chorus. After retirement he often visited shut-ins and lonely people. Following Dee's passing he married Nancy Conradi on December 23, 2005. They enjoyed gardening, maintaining their farmstead, and taking many trips together. They enjoyed their merged families; 8 children, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Del is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Mark (Nancy) of Grundy Center and Steve of Wheaton, Illinois; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother Alvin (Charla) of Melbourne; sister Janice Cleary of Parkersburg; step children Jan Conradi, Martin (Teresa) Conradi, Susan (Tim) Walber, and Joanne Conradi. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Dee; daughter Elaine; son Bruce; infant son Kevin; granddaughter Haley; great-granddaughter Rowen; sister Marjorie Kramer; brothers-in-law Donnie Kramer and Chuck Cleary.
