Rodney "Sod" Rech, 73, of David City, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, February 13, 2024 10:30 a.m. St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City. Rev. Brian Connor, celebrant Visitation Monday, February 12, 2024 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kracl Funeral Chapel, David City, additional visitation at church Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Lunch immediately following mass at the Butler County Event Center Sod was born March 25, 1950 in David City to Elmer and DeLores (Jean Kuhl) Rech. He attended Aquinas High School and graduated in 1968. On August 7, 1993, he married Sandy Schmit and opened his heart to daughters Rebecca and Laura. Sod worked for the City of David City August 1973 - March 2018 and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, car racing and spending time with family and friends. Sod is survived by his wife Sandy of David City; daughters Rebecca (Brad) Johnson of Blue Hill and Laura (Travis) Runquist of Omaha; grandchildren Remmington and Corbin Johnson; brother Randy (Lori) Rech; sister Judy (Ron) Pollak; brothers and sisters-in-law Jan (Galen) Bock of Bellwood, Barb (Dan) Petrik of David City, Nick (Cheryl) Schmit of Bellwood, Vicki (Jerry) Johnson Tuscon, AZ, Joe Schmit of Bellwood and Jackie (Pat) Hoeft of David City; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-father.
