Bio
Darla Michelle Bloomer was born on June 9, 1968, in Ardmore, OK to the late Don and Desey Bloomer. She passed away on January 27, 2024, at the age of 55. Darla Michelle was raised in Marietta, OK, where she was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was actively involved in the Eastside Baptist Church Youth Group, 4-H, art club, showing livestock, and playing Lions Club softball. While attending Marietta High School, she was a member of the "Pride of Marietta" High School Band, where she earned the honor of playing her trumpet in the Oklahoma All-State Marching Band. Darla Michelle graduated with the Marietta High School Class of 1987. After graduation, she attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. While in high school, she worked at the family business, The DoNut Shack, in Marietta. During college, she worked as a cashier at the Bingo Hall, Karry Out Korner and a few other places before she struggled with various health issues, which resulted in her becoming disabled and losing most of her sight. Darla Michelle moved to Norman, OK in 1993, where she was a resident until the time of her death. Even after moving to Norman, she was determined to continue her college education. She worked hard to overcome the adversities caused by her disabilities, and she graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in Sociology in 2000. Darla Michelle became part of the family of Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman in 1998. She joined the church choir family in 2011, and in 2015, she started serving as a Kindergarten Sunday school teacher. She also helped in VBS for many years. In addition to serving in her church, she loved to sing, draw, paint and write poems. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Wartchow; brother, Danny Bloomer; parents, Don and Desey Bloomer; both sets of grandparents, Bill and Camilla Jones and Ross and Ruby Bloomer; a stepson, Justin Wartchow; her stepmother, Alice; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Mark Amos and their children, Noah and Logan Amos; a sister-in-law, Pam Wartchow; a brother-in-law, Mike Bishop; an aunt, Edith Farr; an aunt/uncle, Billie and Stacey Russell; a stepsister, Missy Howard; a stepbrother, Jack Hartman; a niece, Echo Rudd; a nephew, Jason Wartchow; and many cousins. She is also survived by many special friends. A memorial has been established at Immanuel Baptist Church - Norman, in Lieu of Flowers. Visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm. Two services are scheduled for Darla Michelle. The first service will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. A second service will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Oklahoma. Services will be officiated by her pastor, Ken Huddleston. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Garner, Jake Garner, Josh Garner, Ben Rhue, Chris Stofel, Travis Miller, Jason Wartchow, and Mark Amos. Honorary pallbearers will be the church family of Immanuel Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of McElyea and Owens Funeral Home – Shawnee.
