Marcella "Marcie" Darlene Parolek, 89 of Lincoln, peacefully passed away in the presence of family on January 23, 2024. Marcie was born on March 28, 1934 in Bruno, Nebraska to Joseph and Ludmilla (Tejral) Urbanovsky. She grew up in the Bruno area, often working at her parents' Produce store. She later met and married Frank C. Parolek, and they raised their family in Ulysses, Nebraska. After all their children graduated high school, they moved to Lincoln. While in Lincoln, Marcie worked as a caregiver in home health care, bettering the lives of those she cared for. Her Catholic faith was very important to her, and she was very active at St Mary's Catholic Church for many years. She was the pillar of her family, always putting her family first. She brought joy to everyone she met, often yodeling and singing her favorite song, "You Are My Sunshine". Marcie is survived by her children: Geri (husband Mike) Gothier, Genene (husband Jim) Grange, Genelle (husband Chuck) Jungbluth, Rosemary (husband Mark) Alderman, Pam (husband Bruce) Lux, Sandy (fiancé David) Riggs and Frank J. (wife Julie) Parolek; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her sister Lillian Urbanovsky and her grandson Michael Grange. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1720 Lake St, Lincoln, NE with Fr. Michael Morin celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday with family receiving friends from 5 pm to 7 pm at Butherus Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A St, Lincoln. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
