Jenifer M. Nelson, 81, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at her Pemberly Place home on January 11, 2024, with family by her side. Jenifer was born on May 7, 1942, to Dennis & Palma (Urban) Kuester in Platte County, NE. She grew up in the Leigh/Creston area where she attended Leigh Community Schools. After graduation she moved to Lincoln, NE where she received her associate degree from the Lincoln School of Commerce. She also met and fell in love with Gary Nelson, and they married on September 8, 1962. Together they raised three children, Scott, Stephanie, and Samuel. She worked as a receptionist/secretary for Bill Higgin's Optometry as well as for a private therapist. Eventually, she and Gary started up their own business, Painting Services Unlimited and later bought out and merged with Professional Painting of Lincoln. After their son, Scott, died by suicide, Gary and Jenifer began a support group called Ray of Hope for those who have also lost loved ones to suicide. Though they stopped their leadership of the group, the support and compassion they established continues to serve and strengthen others. Some of Jenifer's hobbies were painting, gardening, writing and genealogy. Family and Faith were very important to her. Jenifer loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends, and going to car shows with her husband, Gary. Jenifer was very devoted, kind, patient, caring, nurturing and had a great sense of humor (something she hoped she would never lose). Jenifer battled Parkinson's Disease for over 10 years. Although it took a toll on her body, her faith, sense of humor and determination shined through until the very end. Jenifer is survived by her children, Stephanie Caudy, Sam (Amber) Nelson; siblings, Douglas (Sandy) Kuester, Russell Kuester, Roger (Rose Ann) Kuester; grandchildren, Traeben & Brighton Caudy, Hunter & Sevaya Nelson; many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott; husband, Gary. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Interment will be 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Ray of Hope or the Parkinson's Foundation. https://www.bmlfh.com/obituary/jenifer-nelson
