He married Mary Ann McConnell on 7-10-1835, in Parke County, Indiana. It is believed that he died, sometime around the time that their son William Jr. was born (b. 2-28-1836). A few years later, Mary Ann apparently gave their son William Jr. to her sister Nancy to raise. Nancy had married William Briggs, and they also lived in Parke County. William was living living with Nancy and her family, in the 1850 Census Report. Also living there was Mary Ann and Nancy's 74-year-old widowed mother Abigail (Herron) McConnell. It is not known what happened to William. He may have died in 1854. Meanwhile, Mary Ann married William B. Maxwell on 4-25-1839. She had two children with him: Saphronia Elizabeth (b.12-18-1839, FAG #5698762) and John Culberstain (b. 6-11-1841). William Maxwell died, sometime before 1853. (Mary Ann may have given her son John to John Oxford and his family to raise; in Vermillion County, Indiana.) Meanwhile, Mary Ann got married, a third time, to Alva "Alvey" Chadwick, in Vermillion County, on 10-18-1853. Just three months earlier, he got a marriage license to marry Elizabeth Clark, on 7-8-1853, but the marriage was cancelled. Alva died, sometime before 1864. Mary Ann got married, a fourth time, to Evan Rudd, in Parke County, on 7-10-1864. He died, sometime before 1870. Mary Ann was seen in the 1870 Census Report, living with her daughter Saphronia, her second husband James Adams, and their children, in Nodaway County, Missouri. Mary Ann McConnell Harris Maxwell Chadwick Rudd died in Nodaway County on 12-22-1879. Her gravestone has her last name as Chadwick (not Rudd). Her gravestone has "Alvey Chadwick" on it.
