Bio
Don Voboril Jr., loving husband, father, and brother, died at his home in Homosassa, Florida December 25, 2023 at the age of 73 following a battle with cancer. Don was born May 29, 1950, in David City, Nebraska to Donald and Bernice (Stastny) Voboril. He lived in Lincoln, NE and graduated from Pius X. Don married Susan Shueey in 1974. She died in 1988. To this union a daughter Sara Anne was born. On July 1, 2006, Don and Christy Wusk were married in Adams, NE where they made their home and developed wonderful friendships. He spent 42 years working for BNSF Railroad as a heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement. He was known as a generous and compassionate soul. His passion was duck hunting, fishing, river rafting, and just spending time with nature. He was an avid trap shooter. He enjoyed elk hunting trips to Colorado and Idaho. Don was always ready for the next adventure. He was also an avid Husker fan. He had a love for great food and would try about anything. He was also ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and had a large heart. Don is survived by his wife Christy, daughter Sara (Travis) Porter, siblings Mary and Therese Voboril, Uncles Dennis Stastny (Arlene) and Leonard Stastny and many cousins. Sister-in-law Deanna Warnken, nieces Shari (Steve) Wilkins, Angie Lindsly, great nieces, nephews, and many friends who became like family.
