AUSTIN — Services for Bruce Baker Stokes, 74, of Alvarado will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Bartlett City Cemetery. The body was cremated. Mr. Stokes died June 1, 2023, in Burleson. He was born June 10, 1948, in San Antonio to Bill Stokes and Edna Stokes Knauth. He graduated from Academy High School. He worked for a family owned and operated John Deer dealership in Temple. He also was a body shop teacher at Temple High School, and owned a body repair shop in Temple. He later become a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance in Austin, retiring on Aug. 24, 2007. He married Connie E. Stokes on March 11, 1993, in Austin. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Stokes, on Oct. 28, 1976. Survivors include his wife of Burleson; a son, Brian C. Stokes of Burleson; a daughter, Shelly A. Smith of Burleson; and three grandchildren. The Neptune Society of Austin was in charge of arrangements. Temple Daily Telegram. Saturday, June 07, 2025.
