Byron Mark Whipple Great Falls —Mark Whipple of Great Falls, died on Tuesday June 30, 2015. Son of Byron and Ada Whipple, Mark was born in Lehi, Utah. He earned a business degree at the University of Utah and was married to Dixie Murdock in 1965. They moved to Great Falls in 1967 and opened Hatch's Hallmark, later Whipple's Hallmark. He served on the City County Planning Board of Great Falls. He also served on the Central Bank of Montana Board and was a member of the Meadowlark Country Club Board of Directors. He served as an auctioneer's clerk for the C.M. Russell Art Auction for 25 years as a member of the Great Falls Ad Club. He also built two beautiful houses in the mountains south of Augusta for his family. As a certified SCUBA diver, he taught others to dive as well. He was an avid wood worker and built many tables, chairs, and cabinets that are in use and will continue to be used for a long time. He took much joy in his volunteer work on the River's Edge Trail. He was an avid gardener and loved to give the fruits of his labor to Meals on Wheels. In his later years he and Dixie wintered in Tucson AZ where his daughter Sarah, son in law Russell, and grandchildren Alexander, Laura and Samantha live. These three grandchildren were the greatest joy in his life. Besides being survived by all of the previously mentioned people, he is also survived by his son, Nelson, and daughter in law Karen McLemore of San Francisco, as well as his two sisters Gloria Bateman and Janet Murdock.
