Dorothy A. Klepadlo, 98, a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born in Clay Center, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary Ann Scott Brightweiser. She attended Clay Center Schools and was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, South Scranton, now St. Paul of the Cross Parish. Dorothy was very active in all church functions. She was a member of the Blessed Sacraments Society and Christian Mothers. She helped organize bake sales, picnics, block parties, the quilt bingo and many more activities. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking, quilting, cooking Polish foods and hosting family gatherings. She was also an animal lover, especially loving her cats. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, grandsons and their wives, eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Marlene and Mary Elizabeth Klepadlo; a son-in-law, Roy Ward Sr.; four brothers and three sisters. The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., South Scranton, by the Rev. Jonathan Kuhar. Interment, Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Davis St., Scranton. Friends may call Tuesday, 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411, or to Marywood Heights Activities, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
