Rita Murphy of Columbus died Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her home in Columbus Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. Rita was born January 19, 1955 in Columbus, Nebraska to Alois and Frances (Swerczek) Tworek. She received her education at Columbus High School. She was married to Tom Murphy. To this union her three children were born. Along with raising her family she worked for many years at the Husker House. Rita enjoyed cooking, gardening, games, cards and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Andrew (Vicky) Murphy, Kelly Murphy, Katie Garver, grandchildren: Monica, Madyssen and Erin. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alois and Frances Tworek, granddaughter: Emily Rose Murphy, and special friend Roger Watts.
