Bio

Lillie Marie Long, 86, resident of St. Maries, ID, died February 25, 2013, at St. Maries. Lillie was born May 3, 1926, to John and Maudie (Read) Ivey at Stringtown, OK. She grew up at Stringtown and attended school there. She married Don Curson in 1941 at El Paso, TX. The marriage produced two children. They were divorced in 1946. She married Thomas C. Long on Feb. 19, 1946 . They made their home in various towns throughout the Southwestern United States. She was a homemaker all her life. She moved to St. Maries the first time in 1956. She lived back and forth between Idaho, Oregon, California, and New Mexico, whereever her husband's career in the timber industry took the family. They settled back in St. Maries in 1990. Her husband died in 2010. Lillie enjoyed camping, gardening, and cooking. She also loved to walk the beaches near Coos Bay, Oregon, and collect agates on the beach. Her favorite enjoyment was just going for sight-seeing rides with her family and friends. She was a member of the St. Maries Foursquare Gospel Church. Lillie is survived by her daughter, Virginia Potman of St. Maries; her sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Helen Long of Lompoc, CA and Brian and Sheila Long of Laclede, ID and her daughter-in-law Alice Curson of Salem, OR. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Wayne Curson and Stephen Long and daughters Inez Tate and Nancy Francis Moore, as well as brother John Ivey and sister Edna J. Ivey.
