Bio

Lois Esther (Teasley) Ferguson, 89, left this world to join Jesus on November 17, 2023 in Odessa, Texas. Lois was born on October 21, 1934 in Iatan, Texas to the late Charlie Leland and Patsie Dottie (Parker) Teasley. She moved to Kermit in 1936 at the age of 2 with her brother Charles and her parents. Lois attended Kermit High School. She saw Bill for the first time as he was standing on the corner of Austin and Poplar with his foot propped on a fire hydrant in 1952 and she always thought that to be funny. You could call it love at first sight because after her graduation in the spring of 1953, they got married on November 7, 1953 in Kermit. Bill and Lois loved to dance and would do so every chance they got, often following a local group named The Arkansas Travelers. A couple of their favorite songs to dance to were "Don't Be Angry" and "Silver Wings " After completing school, she worked a myriad of jobs like the High School cafeteria, Dolly's Diner, and calling Bingo at the VFW. Lois was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6284, where she donned many hats, such as treasurer and secretary. Lois was such a strong woman, and the very best caretaker. She loved to care for her loved ones. She was the caregiver to her grandmother Esther Viancey (Daughtery) Parker until her admittance into the nursing home. Lois cared for her mother Patsie, and did all the driving after her father Charlie's passing, as Patsie had never learned how. She cared for Bill from the time they married until they were ultimately separated by his death on April 10, 1998. She also cared for her grandbabies from both daughters. Lois was a social butterfly, always going and doing all the things. She loved to travel, and being in the Auxiliary helped her to do so while attending conventions. She and her best friend, Christine, traveled everywhere together. They visited Branson, Missouri together many times. Lois would make her daily trip to go up to the local café and drink her coffee with her friends. Then they'd take their shenanigans to the Senior Citizens Recreation Center where she would be there all day. On Bingo nights, she'd be there, same spot every time: seat on the left, 2nd table from the front, right in front of the bingo caller, and that's if she wasn't the one calling! She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy Lee Ferguson Sr; her born sleeping baby girl Pamala Lynn; her son Billy Lee Ferguson Jr; and her brothers Bobby Gene and Charles Daniel Teasley. Lois is survived by her daughters: Kay and husband Michael Judd of Lineville, Alabama, and Tammy Neighbors of Odessa, Texas; daughter-in-law Melinda Wilson of Kermit, Texas; as well as many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. A viewing will be held in Odessa, Texas at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 4 pm to 9 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023. On Tuesday, she will be taken to Kermit for a viewing at Family Services Funeral Parlor beginning at 11 am up until her graveside services, held at Kermit Cemetery at 2 pm on November 21, 2023. Services are to be officiated by Mike Bartlett. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Family Services Funeral Parlor and condolences may be sent to the family online at acreswestfuneral.com.
