Bio

Johnny Darrel George, 74, of Sanger, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, November 25, 2023, and is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Johnny was born on February 6, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Joe Henry and Mary Evelyn (Seagraves) George. Johnny was a graduate of Sanger High School in the Class of 1967. Johnny married Jeannie Pennington; they made their home in Sanger, where they raised their two daughters, Darla and Sheila. After that union dissolved, Johnny met Cindy Renee Davis, and they were married on July 14, 2011, in Bolivar, Texas. From this union, they had a son, J.D. In August of 1967, Johnny went to work for Ford Motor Company, which began a 50-year career. Additionally, he was a member and served as president of the United Auto Workers Local 870. He saved and purchased a farm in the Bowie/Montague area, where the family enjoyed spending quality time together. Johnny loved the Lord, reading his Bible, and he enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the youth group at church. He had a good voice and loved to sing. He was a family man. Time with his girls and playing ball with his son, J.D., were essential to Johnny. He was incredibly proud to be called "Daddy John" and "PaPa' by his grandchildren. Johnny worked hard and was a good provider for his family. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Jo Shaw. Those who remain to cherish Johnny's memory are his wife, Cindy of Sanger; two daughters, Darla Wright of Ponder and Sheila Dubberly of Flower Mound; one son, Jonas Autry of Sanger; one sister, Vicki Jo (George) Harrison of Sanger; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services for Johnny are 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Springs Fellowship Church, with Dickie Amyx officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Gribble Springs Cemetery. James Blair, Jonas Autry, Jared Berndt, Jay Berndt, Creedon Boerner, and Keith Reed, serve as pallbearers.
