Shirley Plunk, 77, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Metzger, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Plunk was born May 19, 1927, in Pratt, Kan. After graduating from Pratt High School, she moved to Stratford, where she was a longtime resident. She attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. She married Chester Calvin "Pinky" Plunk in 1949 in Stratford. She was an RN for several doctors in the Stratford and Sherman County community. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the prayers, visits and tokens of kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Phil Plunk of Guatemala, Ken Plunk and wife, Louise, of Amarillo and Max Plunk and wife, Kathy, of Lawton, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Project Salud y Paz Mission Fund, 2738 S. Georgia St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
