Obituary (from the Dignity Memorial website): Doris Eilene Schroeder passed away on Sunday morning, October 9, 2016 at the age of 71. Eilene was born on May 23, 1945, in Dallas, and grew up in Grand Prairie with her parents Cecil Vann and Doris (Gooden) Vann and her sister Gail (Vann) Dean. She married Richard H. Schroeder of Dallas in 1966 and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary this last May 28. Eilene and her family were long-time residents of Plano before she and Richard moved to Richardson. Eilene is survived by her husband Richard, her son Peter and his wife Anna Schroeder, her daughter Jennifer and her husband Matthew Santee, her beloved sister Gail and her husband Doyle Dean, and by seven grandchildren who all love their Nanny. Eilene majored in both Music and Education at East Texas State University, taught grade school briefly, and never lost her love of music and singing. With her many talents and interests, she enjoyed interior decorating, quilting & sewing, cooking for her family, and serving at church. Eilene loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and will be greatly missed until we see her again. A Funeral Service for Eilene will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Allen Bible Church, located at 109 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002. Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas has charge of arrangements.
