Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Krepel, Sr., age 96, of Creighton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Reverend Justin Hildebrand will officiate, with burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151, American Legion Post 74, Army National Guard Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders. Bob died Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk, Nebraska. Robert "Bob" Krepel, Sr, son of Leo and Mildred (Skala) Krepel, was born September 18, 1927, at West Point, Nebraska. He graduated from District 28 country school after the eighth grade. Bob was baptized and confirmed on November 28, 1949, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills. He served his country in the United States Army from February 28, 1951, until he was honorably discharged on February 21, 1953. On February 7, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Esther Kruse at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage and five children, Barbara, Robert, David, Mark, and Donna. Bob and Esther lived north of Creighton on the Kruse family farm for most of their married life. He also held various other jobs while farming. In 1994, Bob and Esther retired from farming and moved into Creighton. He enjoyed working at the Creighton Livestock Market well into his eighties. Bob enjoyed camping, deer hunting and playing cards with his family. He and Esther traveled throughout the country and made two trips to Germany to visit relatives and places he had been during his time in the service. Bob also loved to go bowling and tease young kids. Bob is survived by his children, Robert (Carey) Krepel, Jr. of Creighton, David (Mary) Krepel of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Mark (Beth) Krepel of Crofton, and Donna (Jeff) Jones of Crofton; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Herman Kruse of Creighton and Lyle (Linda) Kruse of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mildred Krepel; wife, Esther; daughter, Barbara in infancy; grandson, Garrett Jones; siblings and their spouses, Leon (Jeanine) Krepel, Leona (Ed) Nadrchal, Helen (Louis) Waterman, Milada (Martin) Craig, and Bess (Royal) Jeffrey-Tinker; and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Mathilda (Walter) Fuelberth, Selma (Dale) Lemke, Lois (Myron) Koenig, and Sharlyn Kruse.
