Donald J. "Don" Thomas, 75 years, of Morse Bluff, NE passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, NE. Don was born on October 14, 1948 to Donald P. and Elaine M. (Shanahan) Thomas in Fremont, NE. He grew up in Fremont and moved to Ames, NE with his family. He was a 1966 graduate of Fremont Bergan. On October 11, 1969, Don married Karen A. Hobza at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, NE. The couple lived in North Bend for several years and lived in Morse Bluff for the past 24 years. Don loved spending time with his grandkids whether it be at a school event, horse, cattle, or goat show and multiple county fairs. Don was a very social person who enjoyed talking to all his friends and family, no matter where he went he could always find someone he knew. He was preceded by his wife, Karen and parents. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Thad) Micek and Nicki (Nick) Petersen; son, William "Bill" (Kristyn) Thomas; sisters, Theresa (Greg) Preas and Kathleen Redwing; brother, Larry Thomas (Martha); grandchildren, Brendan, Ty, Emerson, Madelyn, Gracie; and great grandchild, Nolan. A Memorial Mass will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. George Catholic Church in Morse Bluff, NE. Father Dennis Hunt will officiate. Memorial Visitation will be Thursday from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with a rosary starting at 7 P.M.. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery near Morse Bluff.
