Funeral service for Evelyn A. Mattson, 91, formerly of Osmond will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. P.M.A. Jacquie Samway will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, also at the Christ Lutheran Church. Evelyn passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Plainview Manor. Evelyn was born on June 11, 1932 in Kennard, Nebraska to John and Anna (Seltz) Wesemann. She grew up in the Kennard, NE area until the family moved to Pierce in 1943. Evelyn attended Pierce Public Schools and graduated from Pierce High School in 1948. She then attended Wayne State Teachers college. Evelyn taught school at District 29E. She married Marvin Mattson on June 25, 1950 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. After marriage, Evelyn and Marvin lived in the Pierce and Foster area on their acreage where they worked in the field and their garage. They raised farm animals, gardened, canned and repaired everything from blue jeans to tractors. She and Marvin enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk. They attended their first show at Kings Ballroom in Norfolk and many others in Branson, MO. Evelyn and Marvin enjoyed their Sandhillers group and community and school events. They were married 62 years and had six children. Their family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always very important in their lives. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce, Nebraska, and WELCA Group. Survivors include her children Jean Lewis of Plainview, Beth (Tim) Kudera of Plainview, siblings Helen Flesner of Norfolk, LaVonne Petersen of Omaha, Willard "Willie" Wesemann of Pierce. 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna, husband Marvin, three sons Steve, Stanley, and Brian, daughter Janet Tate, brother and sister-in-law Leonard (Lu Jean) Wesemann, and sister-in-law La Jean "Jeannie" Wesemann, brother-in-law Willis "Buzz" Flesner. The organist is Jolene Ziebell, congregational hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" recorded hymns "Take My Hand, Precious Lord", "When We're Gone", "Where Her Heart Has Always Been" Casket Bearers will be Travis Jelinek, Chris Tate, Caleb Mattson, Jacob Mattson, Luke Mattson, Ryan Kudera and Tyler Kudera.
