Records indicate Barbary moved to Fayette County Ala with her sisters and married in that state. On one of the census it stated that Barbary's name was Samantha. Not sure how that happened but we do know that she had a daughter Samantha. In a book called: Cherry Hill-Poplar Springs-Reid Community in Calhoun Co., MS by: Monette Morgan Young-deceased (son: James Morgan Young) on page 18 it starts with David Wilson Hardin (on prior pages it tells of his ancestors) anyway it states that "he married the daughter of a well-to-do man. Her father had given Barbara Jane Samantha (nickname: Tish) this land or the money to buy it with." Per Monette she states that David Wilson Hardin was one of her maternal great grandfathers. "His daughter Gilly Hasseltine "Tinnie" Hardin was her mothers's mother. The slaves that David and Barbara had were given to her by her "parents." The slaves carried the surname of Vaughn. The slaves called Barbara, Miss Tish.
