Bio

LARRY HELM was born May 14, 1947 in Cherokee County and passed away Dec. 28 in Tyler. Mr. Helm had lived in the Cedar Creek area for 20 years, having moved here from Arlington. He was a Baptist and was a member of American Legion Post 310 in Gun Barrel City. He was twice Post Commander and a past 4th District Commander. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and his occupation was Security Guard, employed by SGI Protective Services. He is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he married in 1986. Also surviving are his children, Candice Helm of Tyler, Stephanie and Ronnie Baker of Gun Barrel City and Kathie Walker of Shreveport, La.; his sister, Pat and husband Bob Gray of Sacul; brother, Ronnie Helm of California; four grandchildren; stepmother, Mary Helm of Alto; stepbrothers, Ronnie and wife Debra Dean of Humble, Glyn and wife Katy Dean of Greenville, N.C.; stepsister, Kim and husband Kevin Tracy of Whitman, Ariz.; aunts, Ernestine Wise of Rusk and Margaret Smith of Grand Prairie. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 at The American Legion Post 310 in Gun Barrel City and will be conducted by Brother William Allen Vaught. Services will be under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of the American Heart Association.
