"Mrs. Mary Coie Barrett, 83, of the Presbyterian Manor nursing home, 7850 Freeman, Kansas City, Kansas, died yesterday at Bethany hospital. She was born in Allerton, Ia., and lived here 68 years. She taught elementary school here 20 years before retiring. She was a member of the Golden Gate chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Ruth Gambol, of Wichita. Services will be at 1 o'clock Saturday at the Newcomer chapel, Brush Creek and the Paseo; burial in Mount Moriah cemetery." The Kansas City Star, February 19, 1971
