Sammie Joe Wilson (Sam), 79, of Abilene, passed away on October 19, 2023, in Abilene. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Potosi Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Sam was born in Knox City, Texas, to Clyde and Hattie Wilson on February 1, 1944. He lived in and attended school in Whiteface, Texas. He married Linda Abbott on June 10, 1967, in Knox City. He worked in the oilfield supply business in Abilene for over 35 years – including Superior Iron Works, Paramount Pipe & Supply, as well as Crescent Supply. Sam was loved by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his family and friends, fishing, and spending time outdoors. His smile, generosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hattie Wilson and sisters Anita Stone and Juanita Elliott.
