Nell Ellenburg Obituary Published on Legacy.com by Beaty Funeral Home - Winnsboro on Oct. 25, 2023. Elizabeth Nell Ellenburg of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2023. Nell, as she was known to all, was born on February 22, 1933, in Grand Saline, Texas, to Edwin Ford Nance and Norene (Wheeler) Nance. Elizabeth lost her mother at an early age and she was nurtured, raised, and loved by stepmother Faye Nell Nance. Nell was an active member of the Winnsboro church of Christ. Mrs. Ellenburg was an avid quilter and seamstress who enjoyed cooking meals for others and helped with toy makers. Nell volunteered with Meals on Wheels into her 80's. After her husband passed, she started a widow's support group to help those in a similar situation as herself. Nell was always ready to serve and assist in cooking a meal or teach from God's word to those who were eager and ready to listen. A Godly woman who kept her ritual of daily reading the Bible and faithful prayer. More than once she took children in to provide loving care to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Emory Denton Ellenburg, Jr. in 2014, and a brother Wayne Nance. Mrs. Ellenburg is survived by her daughters Cynthia Dykes and husband Wylie, Rita Wimberley; 4 grandchildren Steve Dykes, Kyle Dykes, Jay Dykes, and Madelyne Wimberley; 7 great-grandchildren Nolan Dykes, Emory Dykes, Weston Dykes, Jaxon Dykes, Colton Clymer, Avery Lazo, and Cooper Dykes. Her family and members of her church will cherish their memories of Nell and she will hold a special place near and dear to their hearts. A visitation will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 28th at the Winnsboro church of Christ with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. A brief graveside will follow at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro.
