Bio

∼ James and Lydia Nichols met in North Carolina. They began their life there, but soon migrated to the Province of Georgia. • They can be found in 1830 living in Crawford County with Benjamin Robert, Elizabeth Catherine, Sarah Hannah, and Nancy Ann. Vincent was living nearby with his wife and new baby. • In 1840, James & Lydia were living together in an empty nest, but Nancy was living nearby with her new husband and family. ∼ Marker about his oldest son, Vincent: SITE OF OLD BETHEL METHODIST CHURCH ~ Est. 1849 On Land Donated by Vincent (Jack) Nichols, Born 1804 - Died 1876. He sawed the timber which was donated by himself and others in the community to build the church. His residence, grist mill, and saw mill were located near by. He was a prominent church and community leader -- a Mason, a Justice Of The Peace, and served Crawford County as one of it's leading citizens. He was Church C. L. until his death. The Nichols Families were active church members -- and at one time numbered 22 on roll. He and his wife Elizabeth had seven known children Elizabeth, Daniel, James, Nancy, Jabez, Jackson, Joseph, Warren, and Robert Vincent. This marker was erected by decendants of Vincent Nichols, in his memory.
