Bio

Billie Ann Schnupp,75, of Richmond, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 7, 2025. She was born January 2, 1950 in Nightingale Hospital, El Campo, TX to the late William Anton Jurasek, Sr. and Lucille Anne (Kocurek) Jurasek. She married Alan Schnupp on May 25, 2004 at Las Vegas Nevada. During her married life, they lived in the Richmond area. Billie was a graduate of El Campo High School and attended Wharton County Junior College of Licensed Vocational Nursing and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She continued her nursing career and obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was always striving for excellence in patient care and continued her education in healthcare to become a Six Sigma Black Belt. Billie practiced in a variety of nursing positions over the years, starting as a Nurses' Aide at Oak Manor Nursing Home in El Campo 1969. After it closed, she was transferred to Garden Villa Nursing Home where she worked in a variety of roles such as Nurses' Aide, Ward Clerk, Medical Records Clerk, Certified Medication Aide and a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She also worked at El Campo Memorial Hospital as a LVN and went on to become a Registered Nurse. From there she worked at the Czech Catholic Home for the Aged as Director of Nursing. She later returned to El Campo Memorial Hospital as Director of Quality Improvement/Risk management. When the position was eliminated, she went to work at Memorial Hermann Continuing Care Long Term Hospital in Houston, TX as a Clinical Reviewer Nurse/Medical Staff Coordinator. When the Long-term Hospital closed, she went to work at Memorial Hermann Memorial City as a Quality Improvement Clinical Reviewer Nurse. Later she was transferred to Memorial Hermann System Services as a Quality Improvement Clinical Reviewer Nurse. She retired on January 20, 2017 with 48 years of service. During her nursing career, Billie received several awards and recognition. She also received numerous employee service awards as well as nominations for "Employee of the Year." She served on Medical Staff and Governing Board Committee meetings. She was a member of the National Association for Health Care Quality, Texas Association for Health Care Quality and Texas Medical Foundation. "Her natural gift was always serving people which was exemplified through mentoring and being preceptor to many nurses, sharing the wisdom and experience that she gained over the years," her colleagues said. Billie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX. Her faith gave her a sense of support, comfort and peace. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking cakes and strudels, traveling, going to picnics, gambling, BBQ gatherings with friends, crawfish boils with family, researching ancestors on Ancestry and sitting on the deck with her husband having a cold drink; reminiscing olden days and watching the golfers. She is survived by her beloved husband Alan and step-children Holly (Adam) Morris, Eric Schnupp, Britni Schnupp and Blake (Jaci) Schnupp; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; brother, William (Boyce) Jurasek and Oval Nichols; sisters, Viola (George) Kunetka; and Lillian Green; nieces Tammie (Thomas) Mikes and Jennifer Kunetka; and nephew Philip Garcia; brother-in-law Brian (Connie) Schnupp; and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton. The Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gabriel Oduro Tawiah officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
