Bio
Charles Leon Tatyrek was born August 4th, 1953 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Loretta Rae (Ellison) and Charles Fred Tatyrek. He passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 22 days. Leon grew up in the Delhi community where he attended school through the 8th grade. After his 8th grade year and the school closed, he began attending Sayre Schools graduating in 1971. Leon obtained a scholarship to play baseball and continued his education in Altus, Oklahoma. A year later he left school and began his career in the oil field starting at the bottom and ending up consulting for the past 15 years. It was during his time in the oil field that he met Kim Carter and they were later married in Wheeler, Texas on July 23, 1996. They made their home in Sayre, Oklahoma where they currently reside. Leon enjoyed golfing and didn't need much of an excuse to get to the course. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving around looking for wildlife and visiting with family and friends. Of the many loves in Leon's life, one of those was spending as much time as possible with Easton Tatyrek. He is preceded in death by his father; twin sons, Christopher Thomas and Charles Lee; son, Trevor Levi and sister, Janet Tatyrek. Leon is survived by his wife, Kim, of the home; 2 sons, Shawn Leon Tatyrek and wife, Carrie, Yukon, OK and Cameron Carter, Boley, OK; 3 grandchildren, Easton Tatyrek, Lori Penington and Logan Penington and wife, Parke; 1 great grandson on the way; his mother, Loretta Tatyrek and a host of other relatives and friends.
