Bio

BILL HARRIS PASSES AWAY Many hearts are saddened from the loss sustained in the death of Bill Harris, who suddenly passed away early Sunday morning at his home in Northwest Troup. Mr. Harris was at his place of business in town Saturday, devotedly transacting his business and meeting his friends in his usual pleasant and likeable manner. Saturday night there was no indication of illness. Early Sunday morning Mr. Harris requested his wife to bring the liniment, stating that he felt severe pains around his heart. Before the medicine could be administered, Mr. Harris fell to the floor, instant death following. Funeral services were held at the City Cemetery Monday afternoon, at which place interment was made at 2 o'clock. Evangelist Elder of the Church of Christ conducted the services. Mr. Harris was a little more than 54 years of age. Since his coming here several years ago from West Texas he has been engaged in shoe repair work and had built from his kindly disposition and honest efforts a highly treasured friendship. Deceased is survived by his wife and seven children, six of whom reside here. A son now residing at Texas City was unable to be here for the funeral. A sister, Mrs. R. C. Joiner, her husband and children of Temple, and the George Harris family of Rogers, Texas, attended the funeral. Special mention might be made of the presence of and floral offerings from the class of Miss Bonnie Pace. The Banner joins the many friends in offering sympathies to the bereaved ones.
