Christina Polasek Meyer, 95 of Austin died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at her twin daughter's residence. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be 2PM, Sunday, March 30, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor officiated by Rev. Mark Gruebmeyer. Burial will be 2 PM, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas. Christina Polasek Meyer was born on June 25, 1912 in Williamson County, Texas to John and Agnes (Roznovak) Polasek and she grew up in Williamson County. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Christina was baptized, confirmed and married at this same church. She married Henry Carl Meyer on July 4, 1931 and this marriage was blessed with 4 children. They lived for many years in Taylor and in the 1970's they moved to Austin. In 1979 after the death of her husband, Christina moved back to Taylor and stayed here until the mid 1990's before moving back to Austin to be with her daughters. This gracious southern lady was a spunky, high energy, hard working lady with a strong mind and definite opinions. Christina had a wonderful since of humor and enjoyed sharing a good joke with everyone. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and she liked decorating, sewing and quilting. Christina worked many years as a seamstress and her grandchildren could always count on wonderful stuffed animal surprises from her. She taught them early on to play solitaire when they were at her home. Christina was a great baker and the family enjoyed many kolaches and coffee cakes. Her passion was fishing and she was an avid soap opera fan. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Christina will be greatly missed by her many loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry Carl Meyer in May 1978; a son, Gene Meyer; and an infant son. Christina is survived by daughters, Evelyn Stephens and husband, Edward of Saver, PA.; JaLane Meyer and JaNell Jenkins both of Austin; a brother, Raymond Polasek and wife, Dorothy; a sister, Frances Carpenter; grandchildren, Mike Stephens and wife, Sally of PA.; Mark Stephens of PA.; Scott Stephens and wife, Jan of PA.; Mark Meyer of Taylor; Katheryn Nee of PA.; Lisa White of Pleasanton; Patricia Stephenson and husband, Darrell of Leander; Bonnie Meyer and Mike Dykowski of Taylor; great grandchildren, Stacey Tegan and husband, Mike of PA.; Christa Stephenson of Austin; Chante: Nee of PA.; Samantha Stephens of PA.; Morgan Stephens of PA.; Breanna Stephens of PA.; Sarah White of Pleasanton; Fisher White of Pleasanton; Zachary Stephenson of Leander; great, great granddaughter, Sarah Kate Tegan of PA.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Mike Stephens, Mark Stephens, Scott Stephens, Mark Meyer, Mike Dykowski, and Jeff Rinderknecht. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Christina's memory.
