William David Hejl, age 84, of Temple passed from this life during the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at a local memory care facility. He was born in Zabcikville on the 30th day of August 1939 to parents William and Albina (Babovec) Hejl. William grew up and lived in Bell County for his entire life; he was a graduate of Temple High School. In the late 1960's he married the first love of his life Geraldine Kahlig. The young couple built a home and a family together which would eventually include two children. After Geraldine's passing in 1987, William would once again find love with Barbara Hejl, whom he would marry in 1989. William and Barbara spent the next 32 years together until her passing in 2021. William made a career for himself first as a janitor then working his way up to a banker with the First Federal Bank in Temple for many years and then Guaranty Bank before his retirement. He was a member of the Sportsman's Club in Temple for many years as well. He loved to be outdoors, especially being on the lake or the river fishing, as well as watching sports, especially football. William was a faithful member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple for over 50 years, sitting on the front row every Sunday. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by both of his beloved wives, Geraldine and Barbara, his parents, two brothers Jerome and Wilton Hejl, and sister Gladys Hejl Allison. William leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Alan Hejl of New Boston, daughter Karen Massar and husband Darrell of Temple, granddaughter Courtney Mullings and husband Mac of Temple, grandson Walker Massar of Temple and his two great grandchildren Cannon and Hunter.
