Gearldine Jeannetta Anding Pollard, age 79. Born July 11, 1924 in Athens, Texas to Bud David Anding and Lillie Mills Anding. Died at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center at 12:10 PM on August 31, 2003. Preceded in death by beloved husband (50 years of marriage), Wilson Lloyd Pollard 3-10-96; parents: Bud and Miss Lillie Mills Anding; Sisters: Alice Fayrene Anding Rainwater, Buster E.R. Rainwater (Brother-in-law); Lela Wilma Dean Anding; Augustine Virginia Lee Anding Bell, Bervin Bell (Brother-in-law). Brothers: RB Anding, Orville Bud Anding, Aline Gage Anding (Sister-in-law), Douglas Broughten Anding, Ellen Fuller Anding (Sister-in-law) and Roy Derwood Anding (Sunny Boy) . Sister-in-Law: Anna Ellen Pollard Wilt, Homer Wilt (Brother-in-law), John Wilber (Brother-in-law) and Brother-in-Law - W.E. Crawford. Survived by loving Daughter, Patricia Pollard. Sisters: Evelyn Lena Mae Anding Clayton, and Brother-in-Law H.D. Clayton, Elwanda Elnora Anding Crawford. Brother: Royce Boyce Anding (Rancie Boy) and Miss Bonnie Anding. General Motors, Columbus, OH. Harts Clothing, Columbus, OH, Seamstress. Conroes Mfg, Dallas, Texas, Seamstress of uniforms for Armed Services during WWII. Graduated from Cross Roads High School in Malakoff, Texas Class of 1942. Excelled in Sports. Inducted into Texas Hall of Fame for Women's Basketball Championship in 1942, Team Captain. Gearldine was Caption of the Cross Roads Basketball team and played Guard. Treasure of her Class. Taught 1st Grade Sunday School at Beck's Chapel Methodist Church of Henderson County, Texas. Played Volleyball for Cross Roads, Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. Graduated in 3 ½ years. Married June 15, 1946, in Newport, Kentucky. A member of the St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church and a former member of the Salem Heights United Methodist Church; as well as a member of Beck's Chapel Methodist Church of Henderson County, Texas. Gearldine's family has owned land and lived in Texas for over 100 years. A member of the NARVRE of Railroad Employees. Enjoyed Life, Love and Laughter. An excellent Markswoman! She loved Birds, Flowers and Gardening and caring for her lawn. Known for her home made baking and canning – specially her Baked Apple Dumplings, Cakes and Cookies, Frozen Pickles and jams and jellies which she gave away to her friends. A Good Neighbor and an Excellent Friend! Friends may call Wednesday 2-3:30 and 7-9 PM at SCHODDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where services will be Thursday at 10 AM with Pastor Don Shipley officiating. Internment in Beck's Chapel, Henderson County, Texas. Donations may be made to the Heart or Cancer Foundations.
