Shirley J. Terrell, 83, born and raised in McKinney, Texas, went to be with the lord on August 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley, also known as "Granny," to almost everyone she knew, was the light of her family. Shirley was blessed with a large and loving family. She had the best sense of humor; she was loud and would make you laugh with all her stories from her younger days until she passed. One thing about Shirley is she didn't care what anybody thought, which made everyone love her even more. Her outgoing personality made her so special and unforgettable. She loved many things in life, including reading her Bible and cooking. She was known for her fried chicken, fried potatoes with red beans, and cornbread. She enjoyed watching I Love Lucy, Golden Girls, Mamas Family, and Gunsmoke. Most of all, she loved her family with everything she had and loved to spoil her grandkids with candy. Shirley had five kids whom she loved and adored since the moment they were born: Kenneth Tallent and daughter-in-law Shannon Tallent of McKinney, Rita Jones of Sherman, Debbie Tallent, Brenda Hackler of Anna, and Wesley King of McKinney. Shirley had 12 Grandkids, 24 Great Grandkids, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, and many beloved friends. Granny will be immensely missed by so many who loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother Allie Bain Moore, father William Maye Miracle, husband Clyde Terrell, sister Helen Doggett, brothers Jimmy Miracle, Billy Miracle, and Robert Utley, daughter Debbie Tallent, grandsons Jonathan Mabry and Logan Wright, and granddaughter Julie Hampleman. She is survived by her sisters Viginia Forshee and Linda Utley, brother Kenneth Utley, daughters Rita Jones and Brenda Hackler, sons Wesley King and Kenneth Tallent, daughter-in-law Shannon Tallent, and many grandchildren. The family will receive friends between 1-2 pm Sunday, August 20, 2023, with the service commencing at 2 pm. Her final resting place will be at Melissa Cemetery. Services will be held at Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Pkwy in Van Alstyne, TX.
