Born 1842 or 1843. Son of William Frederick Young and Margaret "Peggy" Moore. Sam married Martha Sue McDonald in Tennessee. They came to Texas around 1888 and are in Hunt Co., TX by 1900. Confederate veteran 1910 US Census. Private Company C 18th Tennessee Cavalry CSA
