Doris was the daughter of Henry and Irene (Barnett) Chasteen and the wife of Leonard Dewitt Wallace. Born and raised in Piedmont, AL, she was a graduate of Piedmont High School and established herself as a business owner by operating D&D Gifts and Florist. She also worked for Robert Elders Auction.
