Bio

James Cecil Jordan, Jr.. 81 passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, VA. He was a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Big Stone Gap, VA, due to Alzheimer's. He was the son of the late James Cecil Jordan and Flora Holbrook Jordan, Coeburn, VA. Jim served in the US Army and he worked as a machinist. Right out of school, in the 60's, Jim and about 3 or 4 more of his friends went to Newport News Shipyard to work. At one time in the early 70's all three of the Jordan brothers were working in the Newport News area. They were all 3 machinist. He was an avid fisherman and he loved the outdoors. He spent most of his lifetime on the Clinch River - Carfax area. A nursing home is a very hard place to visit but we visited often. Just to see him laugh, smile and wink was such a joy. Watching him eat chocolate (he loved chocolate) brought Great happiness to us all. Jim always Loved his family especially the little children with all his heart and we all Loved him. He spent a lot of his time taking care of Haley Gray and Brandon Gray when they were young. He was a unique man, never got mad, cussed or raised his voice to anyone. He will Greatly be missed by all who knew him. Jim was also preceded in death by 2 brother, Terry Lee Jordan and David Ray Jordan, both of Dwina, VA. All 3 of the Boys passed away in less than a 4 and a half year period.
