Bio

James J. Browning, 72. died in an Athens hospital at 5:30 a.m. Friday after a lengthy illness. A retired merchant in the grocery business, Mr. Browning lived on Route 2, Athens at the time of his death. He was born in Wood County and had live in Henderson County most of his life. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Athens. Mr. Browning is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ira Taylor of Athens; two brothers, Virgil and Richard Browning, both of Athens; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy McDonald of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Lillie Stogner of Athens, Mrs. Willie Gracey of LaRue, and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
