Son of Jacob & Frances (Hajek) Kriz. Grew up on a farmstead near Brainard; graduated from high school in Brainard; attended the University of Nebraska and then Kearney State Teachers College. Was on the staff of the State Industrial School, 1926-1937 Married: Nov. 4, 1927, to Leona Horacek. She died June 23, 1985. Was employed at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant in Mead during the war; moved to Kearney, was employed by Dekalb Genetics as plant superintendent, retired after 22 years. Activities: member of St. James Catholic Church; life member of Kearney Elks Lodge 984, served as exalted ruler, 1933-1934; was chosen Elk of the Year for 1976-1977; honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, served as grand knight 1954 - 1955 in Fremont; loved his family, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: daughters, Eloise Carter of Mountain View, Calif., Marilyn Duve of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Leona Reischl of Surprise, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
