OBIT: The Dayton Tribune, Wednesday, January 14, 2004 MARVIN H. WELLS Marvin H. Wells, 88, of Dayton, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004, at the Madisonville City Cemetery in Madisonville with Rev. Don Grigsby officiating. Services were under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Marvin was born August 20, 1915 in Hackett, AR to parents; Thomas and Viola Wells, a former resident of Blanchard and Madisonville, and has reside in the Dayton area for the past few years. He was retired Pastor and founder of the United Pentecostal Church of Madisonville, former pastor of the United Pentecostal churches in Devers, Alto, and Llano, Texas, and was also a home missionary in Garrett, KY. He also enfoyed reading his bible and church activities. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ida; mother of his children, Ruby P. Wells; daughter, Juanita Wells; sister, Wilma Bishop; and brother, Orlin Wells. He is survived by his son, Benny Wells and wife Alice of Dayton; daughters, Wanda Murphy and husband, Ralph Murphy of Vidor; Melba Bustamante of Dayton, and Viola Hayes of Baytown; step-daughter Donie Brecheen and husband Neville of Blanchard, step-sons T.J. Kirk and wife Corine of Houston and Rufus Kirk of Bryan; brother Jack Wells and wife Phillis of Baytown, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family request that donations be made to the United Pentecostal Church at P.O Box 535, Madisonville, TX 77864. ********************************* MARVIN HAROLD WELLS was Ordined into the United Pentecostal Church while pastoring the church at Llano, TX. The Ordination took place in Marshall, TX on 25 February, 1958. His Certificate of Ordination was signed by Arthur T. Morgan, General Superintendent.and ________________, District Superintendent.
