Bio

Elsie J. Marak entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 22, 2023. She was born September 19, 1945 in Pensacola, Florida. Elsie graduated from St. John High School. She spent her 35-year career as an assistant at Rauscher Pierce Brokerage Firm, and served as Vice President and President of KJZT Society #16. On May 13, 1967 Elsie married her beloved husband Raymond E. Marak Sr. The couple shared three children – Pamela, Renee, and Ray Jr – seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and 54 love filled years together. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When her children were young, she sold encyclopedias and tupperware to ensure they could enjoy school programs, supporting Pam in band, and Renee and Ray in 4H and FFA. Always smiling, she was quick to help others and happy to do it. She loved to be surrounded by people – at weddings, KJZT functions, or on vacations with family and friends. Elsie enjoyed going on cruises and attending music concerts and had quite the collection of angels and bells. Elsie loved celebrations and looked forward to attending Ennis Polka Festival, St. John's Bazaar, West Fest and weddings. She enjoyed Czech music, Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, and Barry Manilow. She could often be found watching Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Steve Harvey, The Andy Giffith Show, Matlock, I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke. A Believer, Elsie was a long-time member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Raymond E. Marak Sr.; parents Tom Slama Jr. and Elsie (Slovak) Slama; brother Tommy Slama; and niece Tammy LaScala Koch. Elsie is survived by her three children Pamela Marie (Marak) Maliska and husband John A Maliska, Renee Deanne (Marak) Lambeth and husband Douglas E. Lambeth; and Raymond Edward Marak Jr.; seven grandchildren Chase Maliska, Dawson Maliska and wife Alexandria, Eason Maliska, Breanna Ballard and husband Chris, Brandi Lambeth, Corbin Marak, and Gavin Marak; great-grandchildren Bryleigh Ballard, Zaiten Ballard, Cynthia Ballard and Jaxxon Maliska; sister Georgia LaScala; sister-in-law Jeanette Slama; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday July 6, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with a 7:00pm rosary at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Ennis, Texas.
