Born Helen Neu in Roselle, Carroll, Iowa to parents William Henry Neu 1865-1935 and Josephine Reinart New 1870-1928. Helen married Gustav Albert Schmitt on 26 August 1919 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lindsay, Cooke, Texas. They were parents to at least 3 children Theodore (Ted), William, Joseph and daugther Frances Schmitt.
