Bio

Ricky Dwayne George was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 11, 1955, to Curtis Dwayne and Margie Ann (Slovak) George. On Monday, June 5, 2023, he passed peacefully with his loving family at his side. Ricky grew up in Carrollton, TX, and later attended and graduated from school in Louisville, Kentucky. He came to Sanger to work in the plumbing business alongside his uncle, Joe George—a start to a lifelong career in the plumbing industry. On June 18, 1976, he married Connie Jane Smith in Sanger. This year marks 47 years of marriage. Ricky briefly worked a five-year stint with Brazos Electric and served as a Reserve Police Office for the Sanger Police Department. He returned to work at Joe George Plumbing until Joe's death in 1995. Ricky continued the business under Joe's name for a while and then renamed it Ricky George Plumbing. He was known far and wide in the plumbing industry and was always in high demand. When Sanger High School built its first softball field, Ricky was always in sight, working day and night to ensure the field was in perfect condition. Upon completion, this field was named Margie George Memorial Softball Field in honor of Ricky. When the new school was built, he assisted with constructing the new ballfields and kept them in tip-top shape, even after his girls had graduated. Ricky coached his girls in countless sporting activities and served as Peewee Basketball Commissioner during their youth. He and Connie never missed a game and followed their girls wherever they played or participated in extra-curricular events. They have continued this with their three grandchildren. Ricky loved coon hunting and had several Grand Nite Championships. He also had a love for classic cars and enjoyed going to car shows, showcasing his - 1970 Yellow Boss 302. Ricky rebuilt this rusted car from the shell up. He searched for all original parts when making repairs to ensure classic perfection. Ricky was a hard-working man. He was a perfectionist in all he did. Selfless, caring, and mindful of the needs of others. He was a man of few words unless you asked about cars, coon hunting, sports, his girls or grandkids; then, it could be an hours-long conversation. Additionally, he was a lifelong learner. Always eager to learn something new. If you asked him a question and he did not know the answer, he researched until he found the correct one. Ricky lived for his family and wore many hats, but his greatest joy in life was being called "Pa" by Lexi, Austin, and Sydney. You rarely saw him without a smile or at least his mischievous grin. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Sanger; two daughters, Katie Martin and husband Randy of Sanger and Allison Hamrick and husband Chris of Corinth; one sister, Carla Scott of Sanger and three wonderful grandchildren, Lexi Martin, Austin Martin, and Sydney Hamrick. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Elaine Polley, and one brother Jack George. A memorial service will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Bolivar Baptist Church, 6690 FM 455 West, Sanger. Chris Roach will officiate the services. Arrangements are with Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Please share a memory or offer condolences to the George Family at www.cokerfuneralhome.com.
